Projects
Research I have led or contributed to. Each row shows my role and where the work stands.
-
Trust in medical AI
Six preregistered studies, with more than 3,000 participants recruited, on why people trust a doctor's advice more than an AI's, and whether a humanlike AI closes the gap.
-
Generative AI collaboration and the experience of work
Two preregistered experiments (N = 1,299) on how drafting with AI, compared with editing AI output, changes quality, time and how the work feels.
-
Phone use and social connection
A mini mega-analysis of eight experiments (N = 1,778) on how phones in face-to-face conversations affect connection, and for whom, with a pandemic survey and a theory paper.
-
Life during COVID-19
A survey of 569 adults on April 8, 2020, at the peak of social distancing, on how time with close and distant people, in person and online, related to well-being.
-
Risk creep
A longitudinal field study of 304 students over eight weeks on how perceived risk and seeing others go out related to outings during the pandemic.
-
Choice and the use of AI in decisions
An experiment (N = 800) on whether choice at the start of a decision changes how willing people are to use an outside judge, an algorithm or other people.
-
Phone use and sleep
A seven-day daily-survey study of 91 college students on screen time in bed and sleep outcomes.
-
A virtual reality buffet in a pharmacology trial
A secondary analysis of a randomized crossover trial of a ghrelin-receptor blocker in 29 people with alcohol use disorder, using a virtual reality buffet to measure food behavior.
-
Obedience to computer authority
A preregistered experiment (N = 305) testing whether people follow a computer's instructions as readily as a person's. The conditions did not differ.
-
Patient attitudes toward genomic results
An online experiment on how a second review of a genetic risk result, including an AI review, changes trust in that result.
